Send a Blooming Basket!

My mother passed away when I was 5 years old after a very painful few years suffering from Cancer. Not only did she suffer physically, but knowing that she would leave behind 5 small children ages 5 to 14. It is her preparation of us for her leaving that my nickname "Blubyrd" came into being. At the time, we lived in upstate New York in the Adirondack region where there was an abundance of bluebirds. Knowing that we would probably see them often, she came up with the "bluebird story."

I'm not sure where I found the above graphic on the net (if anyone recognizes it, please let me know so I can give credit!). But as soon as I saw it, it touched my heart...my Momma had red hair, is definitely an angel, AND a bluebird!

I did not recall this story, but one my sisters shared it with me once we were adults. Thanks, Paula...I will always appreciate that! If I'm not recalling the story correctly, I apologize....perhaps this is the way my heart WANTS to recall the story :-) Since we could not understand how she could be  living with Jesus at the same time as "taking care of us" as she said she would always do, she told us that whenever we saw a bluebird to think of it as her watching over us. Therefore I have surrounded myself with bluebirds so that I will always have her around me :-) They are in almost every room of my home, in my office, and in my car. Until recently my license plates said BLUBYRD. I've since switched to a plate that has a picture of a bluebird on it, but since I could only have 6 letters with it, my plates now are MYWINGS (from the movie, "Beaches" and the song "Wind Beneath My Wings").

Momma and Dad's wedding day
What a cute couple!!!

Momma was everything that I remember always wanting to be when I grew up. I hope that I make her proud. I know that I have surely disappointed her at different times in my life, but I also know that I have her forgiveness and understanding. I love you, Momma, and a day doesn't go by when I don't think of you and wish we could sit down for a good cup of tea and a Mother-Daughter chat! I am a firm believer in Guardian Angels, and I can tell you that I know from the bottom of my heart that my Momma is my Guardian Angel indeed and she has been with me throughout good times, bad times, and even close calls.

If you find yourself in the position of wanting to support a good cause,
please keep the
American Cancer Society in mind.
They are making great strides in finding cures for various cancers,
and with your help they may one day be able to prevent 37 year old women
from dying and leaving behind motherless children!

A wonderful site regarding cancer help can be reached by clicking
on this Ribbon for Cancer. There resources, information, and encouragement
can be found for anyone battling this awful disease.
If you or anyone you love is suffering from cancer, please visit this site!

This is a prayer dove that I got from Lynn in Alabama who has it placed on a Memorial Page
dedicated to her own mother who also went to the Lord with Cancer.
It shows our support for Cancer research and Cancer Survivors everywhere...and
for those who soar with Angels now! Thanks, Lynn :o) *hugs*
